Hello again readers! This spring, I’ll be finishing up my research with Dr. Alyssa Lederer at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Over the holiday break, we got fantastic news that I’ll be presenting a poster on our research concerning STI knowledge in college students at the American College Health Association (ACHA) annual meeting in Denver this summer! I’m so honored to have this experience as a sophomore! At ACHA, I’ll get to hone my presentation skills and network with professors, health professionals, and students from across the country, and I just can’t wait.
When we got back from holiday break, I had the wonderful opportunity to present about my internship research at the Conceiving Equity event here at Tulane (see image at right). It was a great way to practice my professional poster making skills and explain my research to donors and other professors in a short amount of time. The event was also a good “dress rehearsal” for the larger ACHA annual meeting!
This semester, Dr. Lederer and I will be finishing our manuscript on STI knowledge in college students to submit for publication to the Journal of College Health. I’ll be working on some smaller projects to assist her in other areas as well. I’m looking forward to learning more about grant writing and hopefully getting our Women in Research journal club back together!
I want to thank Dr. Lederer for her unwavering support: I look forward to closing out our time together with a bang!
