This semester, I am interning remotely with Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with PPGC, and believe it is a stepping stone to my dream career. With the impending election and an anti-abortion amendment on the Louisiana ballot, most of my work so far has been related to voter registration. Currently, I am planning an event on Tulane’s campus to register students and encourage them to vote ‘NO’ on Amendment 1, which will take away the right to abortion. I also plan on creating graphics to cultivate awareness of this amendment in my community. After interning with VAYLA this past summer, I can also recognize that this amendment will disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, and people of color, as well as other marginalized groups including the LGBTQ+ community. I believe my networking and communication skills are improving as well, and the connections I am making at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast will likely be long lasting.
